Forward Alex Condon scored 24 points and wingman Thomas Haugh threw in 20 more and grabbed nine rebounds Saturday afternoon, as the 12th-ranked Florida Gators rolled over Ole Miss in their Southeastern Conference game. The 94-75 victory marked the team's seventh straight win, with the Gators shooting 57.1 percent from the field and 50 percent from deep, while holding the Rebels to 41 percent from the field and 12.5 percent from deep.
Florida saw five players score in double-figures, including 20-plus point performances from juniors Alex Condon and Thomas Haugh, who posted 15 and 14 points, respectively, in the first half. The Gators out-rebounded Ole Miss, 21-12, in the first half, establishing early control on the glass that would define the entire matchup. This marked the first win at The Pavilion since January 16, 2016, for Florida's seventh straight victory.
The loss extends Ole Miss's recent struggles. The Rebels' 19-point loss marks its ninth-consecutive game on the wrong side of the scoreboard, a losing streak that is the longest under third-year Ole Miss coach Chris Beard. Malik Dia, a senior forward, came out of Saturday's loss with a team-leading 24 points, but it wasn't enough to stop Florida's balanced attack. The Gators' size advantage proved too much, as Ole Miss' starting five held an average height of 6-foot-6, and got outrebounded 39-24 through 40 minutes of play.
With the victory, Florida coach Todd Golden notched his career first win against Ole Miss. The Gators remain in strong position for SEC and NCAA Tournament contention as they continue their stellar run, while Ole Miss must regroup quickly.
