The North Texas Mean Green are taking on East Carolina today, and the Mean Green are riding some serious momentum heading into the matchup. UNT just beat UTSA 81-62 on Wednesday behind a career night from sophomore guard Je'Shawn Stevenson, who dropped 27 points on just 10-of-19 shooting with seven made 3-pointers.
UNT (12-7, 3-3) faces East Carolina (5-14, 0-6) at the Super Pit in Denton, and it's a chance for the Mean Green to keep their winning streak alive. The Mean Green have won four straight over the Pirates, so North Texas is in the driver's seat heading into Friday. But the Mean Green are currently sizable 10.5-point favorites, which tells you everything about how lopsided this matchup looks on paper. East Carolina is struggling badly this season, especially on the road where they've lost their last seven games.
One thing to note: the doubleheader was originally scheduled for Saturday afternoon but due to the impending weather the game was moved up to Friday. So the Mean Green women's team is also hosting Tulsa later in the day as part of the doubleheader at the Super Pit. The men's game tips off at noon CT and will be broadcast on ESPN+ and the Mean Green Sports Network.
