The Oklahoma City Thunder pulled off another thriller over the Denver Nuggets Monday night, winning 129-126 behind a clutch performance from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. With the game tied and just 2.7 seconds on the clock, Gilgeous-Alexander stepped back and drilled a 3-pointer to seal the victory at Paycom Center—his third win this season over the Nuggets.
Gilgeous-Alexander finished with 35 points and a career-high 15 assists while matching Wilt Chamberlain's record for consecutive 20-point games at 126 straight. That's a stretch no other player has come within 35 games of matching. The Thunder star was efficient all night, shooting 14-for-21 from the floor and becoming only the second player in NBA history to record 35 points, 15 assists, and zero turnovers in a single game.
With Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein sidelined, Jaylin Williams stepped up big for Oklahoma City, scoring 29 points with 12 rebounds and hitting a career-high seven three-pointers. Ajay Mitchell, returning from 20 games of injuries, made an immediate impact with 24 points in 29 minutes.
Denver's Nikola Jokic recorded his 24th triple-double of the season with 32 points, 14 rebounds and 13 assists. Tim Hardaway Jr. added 28 points while Aaron Gordon chipped in 23 points and 10 rebounds for the Nuggets. Despite the strong individual performances, Denver couldn't close out the game in the final seconds. The Nuggets fell to sixth place in the Western Conference with their third loss to Oklahoma City this season.
The Thunder improve to 51-15 on the season, solidifying their spot as one of the NBA's most dominant teams heading into the stretch run.
