UConn defeated Georgetown 84-39 in the quarterfinals of the Big East tournament on Saturday to extend its winning streak to 48 games. The dominant performance wasn't exactly a surprise - this UConn team has been absolutely unstoppable all season. UConn went a perfect 31-0 this season, extending their win streak to 47 games. The Huskies controlled the game from the opening tip, with Serah Williams leading the team with 14 points and Sarah Strong adding 11 points, while Azzi Fudd and KK Arnold contributed 10 apiece.
What really stood out was UConn's defensive effort. The Huskies held a 42-3 advantage in points off turnovers, as well as a 42-8 edge in points in the paint. Georgetown simply couldn't find any rhythm against this suffocating defense. The game was never close after the first quarter, and UConn dominated the third quarter 22-4, to jump in front 69-22. Even with starters sitting in the final quarter, UConn's bench kept the pressure on.
The 2026 Big East Women's Basketball Tournament continues through March 9, 2026, at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. UConn will face No. 5 Creighton in the semifinals on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Given what we've seen so far this season and through this tournament run, it's hard to imagine anyone stopping the Huskies.
