Team USA's men's hockey team is on fire at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan. The United States continued their perfect start in Group C with a 5-1 victory over Germany on Sunday (15 February), securing the top spot heading into knockout play.
Matthew Tkachuk Sparks the Offense
Captain Auston Matthews had two goals and an assist, while Zach Werenski, Brock Faber and Tage Thompson also scored. The Americans put on a dominant display, controlling the game from start to finish. The Americans had previously beat Denmark 6-3 and Latvia 5-1. They rounded out group play on Sunday with a 5-1 blowout of Germany.
Quarterfinals Are Next
The top four seeds -- Canada, United States, Slovakia and Finland -- have clinched byes through to the quarterfinals. Team USA plays Quarterfinal Wednesday (Feb. 18) at 3:10 p.m. ET, and the winner of Sweden vs. Latvia will face the U.S. Team USA are chasing a first Olympic gold in the men's ice hockey since the "Miracle on Ice" at Lake Placid 1980.
