The Philadelphia Eagles have hired Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach Sean Mannion as their new offensive coordinator, the team announced Thursday. The 33-year-old replaces Kevin Patullo after the Eagles conducted an extensive search looking for the right man to head up the team's offense for the 2026 season.
Mannion interviewed twice for the OC job, and now will be moving on from the Green Bay Packers, where he was the quarterback coach. His coaching credentials are impressive despite being relatively new to the field - the 33-year-old Mannion played nine seasons in the NFL and spent the last two years on the Packers' coaching staff. During his time in Green Bay, under Mannion, Jordan Love threw for 3,381 yards, 23 touchdowns, and only six interceptions in 15 games. Mannion even got a taste of coordinating earlier this month, serving in the role for the first time in his coaching career at the East/West Shrine Bowl, helping the West Team come away with a 21-17 victory.
This job comes with serious stakes. Of the last four Eagles offensive coordinators, two became head coaches after one year (Shane Steichen, Kellen Moore) — and two were fired after one year (Brian Johnson, Kevin Patullo). The key for Mannion will be quarterback Jalen Hurts, and head coach Nick Sirianni said he was impressed by Mannion's "systematic views on offensive football and his strategic approach." After the Eagles won the Super Bowl previously, their offense struggled in 2025 with injuries and an uninspiring passing game. Mannion's job will be to turn that around and get the Eagles' offense back on track. Like other recent NFL coaching shuffles, the coaching carousel is in full swing across the league as teams try to find the right fit for their future.
